2018, is a special year, marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up.

   

Chinese people’s life has changed dramatically since 1978, noy only basic life, but also in education, technology, humanity, spaceflight, communication, proportion of pillar industries and so on.These brilliant achievements proof China’s strength and capability, also give western countries, especially developing countries, a deep clue and influence.

Economy is a visual data to reflect a country’s development.

The huge changes brought by reform and opening-up could be seen in data statistics, which according to China's National Bureau of Statistics in 1978 and 2017.

China's GDP grew from 0.3645 trillion yuan in 1978 to 82.7 trillion yuan in 2017.

The per capita GDP rose from 385 yuan in 1978 to 59,660 yuan in 2017, with an average annual growth rate of about 9.5 percent, which has reached the level of upper middle-income countries.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents and rural residents rose from 343.4 yuan and 133.6 yuan in 1978 to 36,396 yuan and 13,432 yuan respectively in 2017.

The incidence of rural poverty dropped sharply from 97.5 percent in 1978 to 3.1 percent in 2017, which far below the world average.

The nine-year compulsory education has been fully popularized and the level of education for  residents is increasing. The gross enrollment rate of higher education reached 45.7% in 2017, nearly 10 percentage points higher than the world average.

Health conditions of urban and rural residents have improved significantly, and the average life expectancy of residents has reached 76.7 years in 2017, which higher than the world average. What’s more, China has built the world's largest network of expressways, high-speed railways and mobile broadband networks, which has formed the largest middle-income group with the largest population in the world, built the world's largest social security network, accounted for about 15 percent of the world economy, contributed more than 30 percent to world economic growth, and has became an important engine for steady recovery of the world economy.

Looking back at the development of other levels from the perspective of economic development, it is not difficult to draw a conclusion that the material and spiritual and cultural living standards of the Chinese people have been greatly improved, people's lives are getting richer and happier, and their happiness index is getting higher and higher.

Since the 18th national congress of the communist party of China (CPC), President Xi Jinping has lead the CPC central committee more and more advancing "building socialism with Chinese characteristics", and energetically leading the Chinese people to a better tomorrow.
